In April 1999, WCBT sponsored a retreat on the topic of the "path,"
or way to enlightenment, in Buddhism. As usual, it was a very enjoyable
and informative day. For details of the lecture, click here.

The retreat began with an English lecture by Rev. Gyoko Saito,
former head-minister of Los Angeles Higashi Honganji
|

The Japanese lecture was given by Bishop Akinori Imai, who is also minister
at the Berkeley Higashi Temple
|

After the lecture and a delicious lunch, English-speaking participants gathered
in a circle for a group discussion.
|

These discussions are important because they allow for interaction amongst
retreat-goers and further clarification of important points.
|

The Japanese speaking group also enjoyed sharing their questions and insights
with Bishop Imai
|

Joanie Martinez and Diane Hata enjoyed the retreat and fellowship!
